Efficient nesting with side drilling – without additional waste

Modern CNC technology now enables machining processes that, just a few years ago, required multiple machines or additional work steps. One example is nesting with lateral machining – that is, drilling or milling cabinet joints in a single setup, without any additional waste.

A CNC machine like the InfoTEC Evo Go demonstrates how these requirements can be implemented in practice. It is suitable both as a standalone solution and as a fully integrated component of an automated production line.

Lateral machining in one clamping

The particular advantage of this technology lies in the fact that lateral processing – such as dowel holes or other connecting elements – is carried out directly during the nesting process. Furniture components like shelves or lids are selectively separated from the nest without increasing material waste.

Technically, this is achieved via an automatic suction cup change: The machine picks up the respective component from the nest, positions it in a separate work area on the machine table, and performs the lateral drilling or milling operations there. The part is then placed on the removal conveyor before the next component is processed.

Flexibility for diverse manufacturing requirements

The standard machine can handle components up to 1.6 meters in length. For larger workpieces, the machine table can be adjusted accordingly. This flexibility opens up numerous possibilities for the user:

  • Carcass joints with or without side machining
  • Nesting and single-part machining in one system
  • 5-axis machining for molded parts
  • Large Z-stroke of 350 mm (optionally expandable)

Software as the key to process reliability

Besides the machine technology, the software plays a crucial role. TPA CAD Professional allows for the creation of customized programs, the definition of machining strategies, and the clean structuring of complex manufacturing processes.

A well-structured program not only ensures shorter run times, but also greater process reliability and repeatability – a crucial factor in series and special production.

Consulting, training and support by see4service

As the German sales partner of InfoTEC, see4service supports users not only in selecting the right CNC solution, but also in commissioning, training and ongoing support.

The goal is not only to install machines technically, but also to integrate them economically and practically into existing production processes.

Conclusion: Nesting with lateral processing is an important step towards more efficient, flexible and future-proof manufacturing processes – especially for carpenters, joiners and industrial furniture manufacturers.
